Information, insights, and advice for ACS industry members
October 29, 2020

Jennifer Holmgren, LanzaTech CEO, explains why she left a great career at UOP, how she leads her team to avoid the ‘trap of forming predictions from a tightly focused position of expertise’, and her desired legacy when she leaves LanzaTech.

Judy Giordan, who has held executive positions at International Flavors and Fragrances, PepsiCo, and Henkel – and now focuses on seed and early stage STEM aligned start-ups – explains how the pursuit of innovation differs in big companies vs. start-ups. Judy also explains what prompted her and others to create the Chemical Angel Network.

Jamie Schwarzbach, Brand Manager, Oncology at Natera, shares her story about how enrolling in a business minor while pursuing a graduate degree in chemistry led to some unexpected career opportunities. She, like many others who have contributed to ACS Industry Matters, sees benefits from integrating business courses into your undergraduate or graduate studies.

Finally, Rebekah Paul, formerly with a large coatings company, and currently with ACS supporting its Industry Member Programs, shares some observations from a recent ACS Webinar featuring Alexa Dembek, DuPont’s Chief Technology & Sustainability Officer, John Banovetz, Senior VP, Innovation & Stewardship and CTO of 3M, and Peter Eckes, President, BASF Bioscience Research. If you are considering a career in industry, or are already employed in industry and looking for insights to help you advance, I encourage you to spend one hour with these three industry leaders and the host of the webinar, LaTrease Garrison, EVP, ACS Education Division.
